The International Competition is the main competition of Lago Film Fest and is dedicated to works of all genres from all over the world.
It is thought to be Lago’s gateway to the world of cinema and cinema from around the world.
Always open to consider the plurality of voices and forms in which contemporary cinema manifests itself, the International Competition this year will see the presence of 25 works from 20 different countries, of which 12 fictions, 5 documentaries and 8 animations, testifying to the great attention devoted this year by the festival to animation cinema.
In this edition, the International competition has focused on the search for films that testify to the liveliness of contemporary cinema, through a look aimed at including both genre films and peripheral cinemas, both new authors and globally recognized masters, elements that make up a cartography from which viewers can move to make a journey into the world of contemporary cinema.
From the beaches of Morocco to the dark English countryside, from the protests in Santiago to the pandemic in Argentina, from the icy shores of Murmansk to a supermarket in the Philippines, the aim is to imagine the world starting from cinema, crossing it from a plurality and particularity of forms and looks that the International Competition hosts.
Of the 25 films in the International Competition, 18 will be presented as Italian premieres.
All films will be available both in presence and online.
