WATER RESIDENCY – DANCE PEFORMANCE – LFF2019

This year we at Lago asked ourselves what it means to translate, to jump from one language to another and the risk involved. As you work with translations, you can move from one artistic language to another. Dance is in effect a simultaneous translation, represented by the body movement, of a musical score, an image, a poem or a sculpture. We like to dream that through this art, which is an image in movement, we can combine the different alphabets of the arts, thus creating a universal and new language.

We ask that Water Residency # 2 draw its inspiration from this new trans-Mediterranean alphabet and that this mapping becomes a new score, a new poetic composition, a typographic experiment to see what influence it can have in choreographic writing.

“A woman. A lake. Another woman. The same one, a while back.”
Different languages from different ages that melt together to find a new, common one. The work will develop both giving material and collaborating with the dancers, creating the space needed to have not a one-way relationship but one that brings their own experience and their personality inside of it. Again the protagonost is the town with his streets, the spaces and the lake. The lake is also used to finish the perfomance.
